Mongrel Mob bikie caught in Sydney’s west in kidnapping, cybercrime ring

Three accused members of the infamous Mongrel Mob bikie gang from New Zealand have been charged in Sydney with abduction, as video shows one being led away from his house wearing just a tracksuit and slides.

Around 6am on Thursday, elite NSW Police Raptor squad officers conducted house raids in four districts in Sydney’s south-west, detaining two males, ages 30 and 32, who were allegedly connected to the notorious motorcycle gang.

Police confiscated a black and silver motorcycle, a blacked-out ute, and other club jackets and accessories during the searches.

The 30-year-old guy was accused with intentionally leading a criminal organisation and kidnapping someone with the aim to detain them for ransom.

Charges were also brought against him for allegedly taking part in the shooting of a 35-year-old man in Merrylands last month.

He was taken from his Georges Hall, near Bankstown, house to Bankstown police station wearing a grey zip-up sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms.

A 32-year-old male was also detained during the searches and transported to the Kogarah police station, where he was charged with conspiring to hold a person for ransom, knowing to direct the actions of a criminal cell, and aiming to obstruct investigations.

From his residence, police allegedly collected jackets, patches, bandanas, and other apparel items emblazoned with the Mongrels Mob logo.

Additionally, officers seized a black and silver motorbike with upside-down mirrors and an all-black Ford dual cab pickup.

For his alleged involvement in the kidnapping plan and a count of dealing with more than $100,000 in profits of crime, a third accused Mongrel Mob member, 42, was also charged.

The bikie gang’s presence is unique since, in previous years, their operations in Australia were primarily restricted to the Gold Coast.

According to a police source, the abduction allegations are thought to be related to a 21-year-old who was reportedly seized from his Bankstown home and taken on a “drive” before being dumped back at his home.

When cybercrime investigators came across information regarding the abduction earlier in the year, they were already looking into a criminal organisation.

Bikie and cybercrime task groups obtained search warrants for four Sydney houses as a result of their investigations into the alleged abduction.

Under gloomy morning skies in Sydney’s south-west, the cybercrime team knocked on Mongrels’ doors with support from the bikie-focused Raptor squad.

The crews conducted house raids in Georges Hall, Bexley, Kingsgrove, and Chipping Norton, four distinct areas.

When the two guys who had been detained on Thursday morning appeared at the police stations, they were both denied bail.

While the 32-year-old will appear in court on Friday, the 30-year-old male will do so in November.

On September 12, the 42-year-old is scheduled to appear at Liverpool Local Court.

Who is the OMCG’s “Mighty Mongrel Mob”?

The motorcycle gang known as the Mongrel Mob is a criminal organisation with its foundation in New Zealand and is well-known for its brutality, participation in organised crime, and use of drugs.

They are one of the biggest criminal organisations in the nation.

The gang had its beginnings in 1962 when a group of mostly rebellious young people from Europe decided to name themselves the Mongrels and formed a gang on the streets of Wellington and Hawke’s Bay.

In the 2000s, The Mongrel Mob spread from New Zealand to include chapters in the major Australian cities.

The Mongrel Mob’s colours are red and black, and its logo is a British bulldog.

Members of the Mongrel Mob are recognisable by their gang emblem tattoos, red bandanas, and often tattooed faces.

The gang comprises more than a thousand members who have a history of murder, robbery, and the trafficking of firearms.

The Mongrel Mob and its New Zealand adversary, the Black Power gang, have engaged in a number of public altercations.
