Mosimane dismisses the Lorch link-up

Pitso Mosimane, the coach of AL-Ahli, has dispelled rumors that his team is in negotiations with Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch.

Former South African Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season has not played for the Buccaneers since August of last year, and he is expected to be sold during the January transfer window.

“If Al-Ahli desires Thembinkosi Lorch, Chairman Khoza and I will be the first to know, and no one else will know until Orlando Pirates announce the purchase has been completed.

If the reports are genuine, then I am unaware,” Mosimane stated on Twitter.

When Mosimane was still managing Al Ahly of Egypt, there were rumors that Lorch might join the Red Devils, but nothing came to pass.

Riveiro has struggled to accommodate Lorch’s absence since his last appearance for Bucs. According to a statement made by the club, Lorch was scheduled to return by the end of January.

Prior to their 2-0 loss against Mamelodi, the Buccaneers issued the following statement: “He is expected to rejoin his teammates for the majority of the second half of the season.”

Even after the statement, though, the club, the player, and the coach have remained tight-lipped about the subject. Riveiro told reporters, “I don’t speak about injured players or individual players; it’s the same as at the beginning of the season.”

Since joining the Buccaneers from Maluti FET College in 2015, Lorch has scored 30 goals and registered 19 assists in 155 games for the team.

Fans of Al-Ahli are urging Mosimane to sign Wuhan Three Towns’ Brazilian striker and goal-scoring machine Marcao Amaral. Amaral now plays for Wuhan Three Towns in the Chinese Super League. They are also urging Mosimane to sign Hany Mukhtar, who currently plays for Nashville SC in the United States Major League Soccer, as well as former Bafana Bafana attacker Thulani Serero.
