Moldovan murderer also raped and attempted murder

The ‘evil and disgusting’ rape and attempted murder of a stranger whom he left for dead in an alleyway have been found guilty by a jury of a convicted killer who came to Britain from Moldova after serving 10 years for killing his lover.

Sergiu Boianjiu, a 38-year-old Moldovan national, was found guilty of attempted murder and rape at Northampton Crown Court today.

In February, CCTV footage captured Boianjiu, a resident of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, as he sexually assaulted a young woman before repeatedly stamping his head on her.

After serving ten years in prison for killing his girlfriend in 2002, the criminal was allowed to enter the UK.

Despite having admitted to the attempted rape, he was cleared of a second rape accusation.

Judge David Herbert QC adjourned the case and informed Boianjiu: “Given the nature of the offences you have been convicted of, and your prior conviction for murder, I will have to consider the imposition of a life sentence in your case.”

He will continue to be held as he awaits sentencing in the following six weeks.
