Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula will visit Wolmaransstad in the North West Province to inspect the progress on N12 National Roads

To inspect the status of the N12 National Roads through Wolmaransstad, Klerksdorp, and Potchefstroom, which are all part of the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, the Minister of Transport, Mr. Fikile Mbalula, will travel to Wolmaransstad in the North West Province.

On March 11 of this year, the Minister went to the town of Wolmaransstad to check out the N12 national road, which was full of potholes.

The National Department of Transport transferred ownership of this section of road from the provincial government to South African National Roads SOC Limited (SANRAL) in order to make the necessary and prompt repairs.

Following the Minister’s call, SANRAL sent out construction teams and specialists to handle the situation as soon as possible. The road maintenance budget was about R45 million.

This will be the Minister’s second trip to the region to report on progress on commitments made following the Presidential Imbizo in Mahikeng – for the National Department of Transport and SANRAL to repair some roads in consultation with the province.

Attendance is open to members of the media. On-site media interviews will be conducted by the Minister of Transport and the Regional Manager of SANRAL.
