Miami Heat sign Tyler Herro to four-year, $130m deal

Sunday, the Miami Heat announced that guard Tyler Herro, last year’s NBA Sixth Man of the Year, has signed a four-year contract extension.

Multiple sources indicated that the arrangement was worth an average of $30 million per season, with performance incentives that could increase its total value to as much as $130 million.

Pat Riley, president of the Heat, stated, “Tyler is an impactful, multifaceted player, and we are thrilled to have him signed for the next five years.”

The 22-year-old American was selected by Miami 13th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The Heat reached the NBA Finals in his debut year, falling to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2020 championship game, but were eliminated in the first round of the 2021 playoffs and lost to the Boston Celtics in a seven-game series this season.

Herro averaged 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 32.6 minutes per game while coming off the bench in 56 of his 66 appearances to earn the NBA’s top reserve honor last season.

Herro has averaged 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game throughout his three seasons in the NBA, and his scoring average has increased each season.
