A woman was sexually assaulted in a horrifying attack at Albert Park Lake in Melbourne by a man she didn’t know. The incident occurred around 11:15 pm while the woman was sitting along an embankment of the lake, located 4km south of the city center.
According to Victoria Police, a 42-year-old man approached the woman, whom he didn’t know, and allegedly physically and sexually assaulted her. The woman was able to escape by running away, with the man in pursuit, before seeking help from passers-by.
The man was later arrested and charged with various offenses, including sexual assault, sexual assault by compelling sexual touching, assault with intent to commit a sexual assault, common law assault, and committing an indictable offense while on bail. He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
