Luton crown court sentences a 31 years old lady to life imprisonment after being found guilty of murder

Saul Murray, 33, was killed after being set up in a honeytrap by two women, Surpreet Dhillon and Temidayo Awe, who used the date rape drug GHB to seduce and rob him. Murray had posed on Instagram with two Rolex watches, but they were fake, and he had no expensive items in his flat, which he had only just occupied.
Found naked in a pool of blood in the communal entrance to his flat in Luton, he had been stripped by the women who were unable to rob him after the drug did not knock him out. Their male accomplices, Ikram Affia and Cleon Brown, were summoned to help and were later convicted.

The jury at Luton Crown Court was shown CCTV footage of the four defendants traveling to Luton from London and entering Murray’s flat with GHB, which they gave to him. The two women had shared brandy with Murray, and at some point, there was sexual activity between the women and Murray.

Swabs from both sides of his face and neck contained DNA from both women. Affia was wearing a distinctive and rare designer Moncler coat, and CCTV footage placed him near the murder scene.

All four defendants were convicted of conspiring to rob Murray, and Affia was also found guilty of having a blade. Affia was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 25 years, Brown to 11 years, Dhillon to 10 years, and Awe to seven years.

Dhillon admitted targeting six men in similar honeytraps between October 2021 and February 2022, while Awe had been involved on four occasions.

In a victim personal statement, Murray’s father described Saul as a wonderful son, and the judge said his life had been “cut brutally short.” He added that the robbery plan had gone wrong, and something that seemed like an easy money game had the potential to go wrong.

Detective Inspector Dale Mepstead hoped that the knowledge that all four people involved in this horrific incident would be locked up for a very long time would bring justice to Murray’s loved ones.

The case is set to be featured in 24 Hours in Police Custody later this month.
