Meghan Markle explains why she “rarely wore color” during her time in the United Kingdom

Meghan Markle purposefully wore predominantly “muted tones” when residing in the United Kingdom.

“I rarely wore color,” the “Suits” alum remembers in the Thursday-released third episode of Netflix’s “Harry & Meghan” documentary series.

Markle, who began her romance with Prince Harry in 2016, reveals, “There was consideration behind that.” “From what I gather, if there is a group occasion, you may never wear the same color as Her Majesty [Queen Elizabeth II].

“However, you should also never wear the same hue as one of the other elder family members,” the former actress continues. “Therefore, I thought, ‘Well, what color will they probably never wear? Camel? Beige? White?’”

Markle, 41, states that her major objective was to “fit in,” adding, “I’m not attempting to stand out here. There is no version of me entering this family in which I did not make every effort to fit in.”

The “Archetypes” podcast host, who says she did not want to “embarrass the family” with her attire, also mentions an orange gown she wore to the Salute to Freedom Gala in November 2021 in New York City.

The event occurred after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned from their royal positions and departed England for Canada and the United States.

Since 2020, the couple has resided in Montecito, California, with their three-year-old son Archie and one-year-old daughter Lilibet.

In a shocking interview with Oprah Winfrey in March of the following year, Harry, 38, and Markle addressed her suicidal thoughts and the reservations of a senior royal family member regarding their eldest child’s skin hue.

Markle, who is biracial, and the former military pilot’s new shows are similarly in-depth.

In the first episode, she states in a confessional, “I can’t say it’s pleasant.”

She explains, “But when you feel like people haven’t received a feeling of who you are for so long, it’s incredibly good to be able to give them a taste of what happened and also who we are.”

On December 15, the final three episodes of the series directed by Liz-Garbus will be released.
