The ultimate wedding present of a new heart has been delivered to a dying Italian man whose last dream was to marry his girlfriend.

After suffering a heart arrest last month, Maurizio Calorio, 47, was on a life support machine and in danger of passing away in the Molinete hospital in Turin.

While in the hospital, he made the decision to wed Silvia Duca, 42, while he still had the chance.

We didn’t know if we would make it to our September wedding date, according to Duca.

At the foot of the hospital bed, which was flanked by balloons and a bouquet fashioned of blood collection tube caps, a representative from the town hall presided over the event.

Due to his declining health, Calorio had been placed on the heart transplant waiting list; but, as of the day of his wedding, he had so far been unsuccessful.

After that, he learned that a donated heart had become available in Naples just hours after he had gotten married.

His heart was flown to his Turin hospital on a special flight, where he had a seven-hour operation that night.

According to The Times, Duca stated: “The miracle happened that night.” After the wedding, Maurizio was given a brand-new heart, which was a lovely gift.

Without the transplant, his chances of living were slim.

Calorio is still being monitored in the hospital, but the procedure was successful, and doctors anticipate that he will fully recover.

Their three-month-old baby and six years of dating had brought them together.

The Covid epidemic caused them to postpone their earlier-planned nuptials.

We were in total darkness, so this gift has made us happy, Duca remarked. Now, our goal is to raise our daughter and live a long life together.

Maurizio now has a new life, thanks to someone’s kindness.
