British actor Damian Lewis, 51, has got the seal of approval from his new US rock singer girlfriend Alison Mosshart’s mother

The mother of the new rock singer girlfriend of British actor Damian Lewis says she can’t wait to meet the Homeland star and has given the actor her stamp of approval.

Lewis, 51, has been seen going out on several dates with American singer and visual artist Alison Mosshart fourteen months after suffering the grief of losing his wife Helen McCrory to cancer.

Mosshart’s mother Vivian, 76, claimed that the couple met through acquaintances while out and about in London and have become more and more enamored of one another.

Vivien, 76, revealed in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com from her Florida home: “Of course we are delighted for her.

I don’t know how much criticism I’m going to receive for all of this.

They have buddies in common. I’m not really sure how they connected, but it’s okay with me. We are happy if she is happy.

Although I haven’t met him yet, I would surely like to.

The Kills’ lead singer, 43-year-old Mosshart, co-founded the group with Kate Moss’ ex-husband, guitarist Jamie Hince.

She is a member of the US supergroup The Dead Weather, which was founded by Jack White of The White Stripes, and she has never been married.

She divides her time between London, Los Angeles, and Nashville.

She and father-of-two Lewis were first seen together at a chic benefit gala for London’s National Gallery last month.

The Mail on Sunday quoted a fellow passenger who saw the couple riding the train to the event as saying they appeared “100% romantically attached” and “like they were on a hot date.”

At the Serpentine Gallery’s annual summer party, one of the highlights of the social calendar in the British city, Lewis and Mosshart were once more spotted last week.

The couple was once again photographed together at the British Formula One Grand Prix at Silverstone this past weekend. Mosshart later posted to Instagram, writing, “The absolute thrill.” At a speed of 200 miles per hour, I’m still floating.

After a covert fight with breast cancer, Lewis’ late wife, Peaky Blinders actress Helen McCrory, passed away in April of last year at the age of 52.

They had two kids and had been married since 2007.

Vivian admitted that while she was aware of the actor’s tragic past, she was less familiar with his leading roles in popular television series like Homeland, Band of Brothers, and Billions, where Lewis portrayed hedge fund mogul Bobby Alexrod.

“I believe I have seen Billions a few times, but usually we just watch movies,” I said. She said, “I heard he’s got a new program coming out, but I haven’t watched any of it.”

Mosshart was raised in Vero Beach, Florida, on the east coast, where her father Mark, 73, runs the aptly called Alison Auto Brokers.

An LA-based chef named Matthew, 38, who formerly dated Kelly Osbourne, is her brother.

According to Vivian, her daughter, who has gone by the stage name Baby Ruthless, began listening to music at the age of “nine months,” began playing the drums in sixth grade, and by the time she was 11 or 12, had started her own punk band.

She contended, however, that Mosshart should not be classified as a punk rock singer because she was just as intelligent and talented as Lewis, an Eton graduate.

She’s difficult to summarize. She is a complex, gorgeous, and extremely educated woman, Vivian told DailyMail.com.

She is so gifted in so many different ways, it never ceases to amaze us. In fact, it astounds us. We’re incredibly proud.

Lewis declared Helen’s passing in April of last year, hailing Helen as his “beautiful and mighty wife” who had lost her “heroic” fight with cancer.

“She passed away as she lived.” He stated on social media, “Fearlessly.” God knows how lucky we are to have her in our lives, and we love her very much.

She shone so brilliantly. Little One, get in the air right now.

Lewis continued in a poignant eulogy by describing how his late wife had advised him to find love once more and warned him, their son Gulliver, 14, and daughter Manon, 15, not to dwell on her passing.

She was so kind as to encourage the three of us to live. He wrote, “Live completely, seize opportunities, and embark on adventures.”

She addressed us while still in bed, saying, “I want Daddy to have girlfriends, plenty of them. You all need to fall in love again; love isn’t possessive.”

However, Damian, try to at least make it through the funeral without snagging anyone.

McCreary, who is most known for playing gangster matriarch Polly Gray in Peaky Blinders, was also a celebrated theater actor who performed in Lady Macbeth at Shakespeare’s Globe and worked with the UK’s National Theatre, the Almeida, and the Donmar Warehouse.

Rufus Norris, artistic director of the National Theatre, referred to her as “unquestionably one of the great actors of her generation.”
