Mathias Pogba and three others are detained, sources said

According to individuals familiar with the matter, French police have arrested Paul Pogba’s older brother Mathias and three other people as part of an investigation into the extortion claims made by the Juventus and France football stars.

One of the unnamed legal sources said that Mathias Pogba turned up “early afternoon to investigators and was taken in police custody.”

One of the four suspects who have been arrested as part of the investigation was brought into custody on Tuesday, and the other three on Wednesday, according to a judicial source.

According to Mathias Pogba’s attorney, the World Cup-winning player Paul has alleged that extortion involving his brother has been the subject of an inquiry.

His denial was made in a statement sent by his attorney, Richard Arbib, after he posted a strange video online on August 27 in four different languages, claiming to have “big disclosures” concerning the Juventus player.

According to Paul Pogba, his brother was a target of a multimillion-euro criminal blackmail scheme.

Large amounts of money are being requested from Paul Pogba if he wants to stop the distribution of supposedly incriminating films, according to two family-friendly individuals who spoke with AFP.

The statement from the attorney said, “Considering how the situation has developed and the extensive media coverage surrounding it, Mathias Pogba firmly asserts he is unaware of any effort at extortion against his brother, Paul Pogba.

The challenges the Pogba family is facing are unquestionably the consequence of external threats, which the judicial authorities—who are already involved—will assess.

Mathias Pogba will only communicate with the investigating judges moving forward, if required, in order to soothe the situation with his brother.

It was revealed last week that two investigating judges had been chosen to oversee the investigation.

They will look into charges of abduction, extortion by an armed group, and involvement in a criminal conspiracy based on the results of a preliminary inquiry that was initiated last month. For the time being, the accusers are unknown.

In order to discredit him, Paul Pogba claimed his blackmailers requested a marabout (holy man) to put a spell on Kylian Mbappe, an allegation the Paris Saint-Germain and France star rejects.

The anti-gang and central crime sections of the French police work together on the inquiry.

Police have previously questioned a number of persons, including Pogba’s mother, a judicial source told AFP.

Pogba’s chances of representing France at the World Cup in Qatar later this year are in jeopardy due to a knee injury. He mentioned a procedure that was “successful” earlier this month.
