According to judicial sources, Paul Pogba’s elder brother and four others are “likely to be charged” on Saturday in an extortion case targeting the French football star.

According to the sources, they are scheduled to appear before a court later in the day.

Mathias Pogba, 32, has acknowledged to being the creator of a weird film that was posted online on August 27 and promised “great revelations” concerning the Juventus star and French national team member.

The four others are all good friends with the Pogba brothers and range in age from 27 to 36.

The five suspects have been detained since Tuesday and Wednesday.

Paul Pogba filed a complaint with Turin prosecutors on July 16 alleging that he was the subject of a 13-million-euro blackmail scheme.

According to sources close to the Pogba family contacted by AFP, Paul Pogba is being asked for enormous quantities of money if he wants to prevent the release of purportedly incriminating tapes.

Paul Pogba told investigators that his blackmailers attempted to defame him by stating he ordered a marabout (holy man) to put a spell on Kylian Mbappe, a top player for Paris Saint-Germain and France, which Pogba rejects.

On September 2, French prosecutors initiated an investigation. It is being addressed together by the anti-gang and central criminal departments of the French police.

Several individuals, including Pogba’s mother, have already been questioned by police, according to an AFP source.

Due to a knee injury, Pogba’s chances of participating for France at the World Cup in Qatar later this year are uncertain. He underwent surgery earlier this month that was termed as “successful.”
