According to police, no one is missing following the Christmas Day avalanche that rushed across a ski trail near the town of Zuers in western Austria.

Based on the cell phone video, first responders initially estimated that up to ten individuals could be buried.

According to authorities in the Vorarlberg region, the avalanche covered 500 meters of the trail near the 2,700-meter Trittkopf peak.

Eight helicopters were used to transfer the rescuers to the avalanche scene.

One partially buried individual was found with significant injuries, and 200 rescuers were dispatched to search the snow for more.

According to authorities, several of the persons in the video fled and skied down the mountain into the valley without disclosing their involvement, and it took hours to track everyone down.

An avalanche fully covers many skiers on the piste, according to a video released on Twitter.

Several of the people in the film had escaped and skied down the mountain into the valley.

A search is still underway today, but police have stated that ‘based on the existing level of information, it can be assumed that no further persons are missing.’

The avalanche occurred after days of heavy snow, followed by mild weather on Christmas Day, and the avalanche threat had been designated as high by the mountain rescue agency.

Hermann Fercher, the head of tourism in the Zuers and Lech am Arlberg district, told the dpa news agency that the avalanche happened despite the fact that explosives had been set off in the area to lessen the risk.It turned out that several of the people in the video had escaped and skied on down the mountain into the valley

Police stated they would look into how the collision occurred.

Avalanches kill approximately 20 people in Austria each year.
