Mass weddings for men sent to Ukraine unite dozens of Russian spouses

Men who have been called up to fight in Ukraine are now getting married in large numbers quickly in Russia.

A wedding ceremony in St. Petersburg last week was captured on camera with dozens of couples exchanging vows at once.

From their seats in the Sestroretsk Registry Office, the newlyweds voluntarily consented to be married, according to footage from a local TV station SCTV.ru.

The unusual ceremony was held as a result of Moscow including mobilization on the list of “special conditions” that permit a wedding to proceed quickly.

According to Russian legislation, a couple cannot be married until at least one month have passed after the marriage application was filed.

According to the TV station, arranging army marriages quickly before deployment is “excellent for morale” and “creates a feeling of security.”

However, some contend that the ‘expedited process’ only serves to provide recompense for troops’ spouses in the event that they pass away on the front lines.

As one soldier took part in the event, local lawmaker Vera Sergeeva addressed him in Russian and said, “Let me shake your hand first and say thank you.”

You didn’t flee, and you aren’t afraid that you are here and that we will win.

“A marriage ceremony is the legislature’s present to you,” Ms. Sergeeva said.

43 couples, on average, took part in the large ceremony last week. Ten couples were allegedly married at a time.

The couples concurrently submitted their individual marriage applications and conducted a ceremony where each pair had the opportunity to say “I do.”

Standing between their seats in the conference room, the newlyweds then shared rings and kisses at the same moment.

The celebrant said that in Russia, being married necessitates receiving “formal affirmation of permission of loved ones and the state.”

The expedited ceremony, according to Ms. Sergeeva, was a “wonderful present” and “really lovely for everyone.”

She said, “This fosters a feeling of steadiness.” “I am absolutely certain that a woman carries tremendous affection on her frail shoulders.”

According to The Insider, one couple who attended the ceremony told SCTV they were pleased to formally announce their love.

One groom stated, “I have known for a long time.”

He and his wife said that getting married was something they “of course, wanted to do” and that “in the end, we selected the correct day.”

The bride said, “I didn’t anticipate to have such a wedding really.”

She seems to have anticipated having to wait before becoming a wife.

The present is excellent for the whole family, said a second mobilized suitor who attended the event. When I return from the war, we’ll most sure buy him a drink.
