Man wanted for shooting another during fight in Manhattan is the comedian about to perform in Times Square

According to police, a man wanted for allegedly shooting a stranger on a Manhattan subway during a fight is a comedian who was scheduled to perform on Saturday night in Times Square. Marcos Cofresi, also known as Leo and Leonardo Cofresi, is on the bill at the LOL Comedy Lounge on West 46th Street.

However, he is currently wanted by the NYPD for allegedly shooting a 34-year-old man in the stomach and forearm while on a southbound N train. Cofresi and his female companion were arguing with the victim just after 1 a.m. on Jan. 28, and as the train pulled into the Canal Street and Broadway station, the comic allegedly fired two shots.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, and his cousin stated that he is doing well. Cofresi and his female companion ran off as the train arrived at the station.

The suspect has two prior arrests for criminal possession of marijuana and fare evasion. His comedy act features jokes about crime and police, and in one bit, he jokes about robbing someone who wants to get rid of cops.

The distinctive white neck gaiter with a skull on it that Cofresi was wearing during the shooting may have sparked an argument that escalated into violence.

The NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig stated that “he’s a comedian wanted in a shooting” and gave a description of Cofresi, who was seen wearing a dark-colored jacket with “New York” written on the front, dark-colored sweatpants, gray sneakers, and a “New York Yankees” baseball hat.
