Man shot in the chest by police on a suburban street in Sydney’s southwest is in critical care

A man has been left in critical condition after being shot in the chest by police during a domestic violence incident on Williams Street in Yagoona, Sydney’s southwest.

Police were called to the scene after receiving reports that a man was threatening another person with a knife. The officers tried to use a taser to subdue the man, but he was able to attack one of them.

As a result, the other officer shot the man in the chest. He was immediately taken to the hospital in a critical condition.

The incident is currently being investigated by a critical incident team, and a report is being prepared for the coroner. This comes just a few days after another incident where a man was shot dead by the police in Auburn police station after lunging at them with a knife.

The man had previously stabbed a cleaner at Auburn train station. Despite the officers’ attempts to save his life, he was later declared dead at the scene. Detectives from the counter-terrorism squad are currently investigating the stabbing.
