On Wednesday, 11 January, a train hit and killed a pedestrian near Heidedal in Bloemfontein at a level crossing.

At around 07:30, Heidedal police got a report concerning a railway collision at East-end Industrial Park.

Members discovered the dismembered corpse of a man in his mid-40s wearing a black jersey with white stripes when they arrived at the scene. The Heidedal police have launched a murder inquiry.
