Man allegedly kills his girlfriends, assaults her, and then commits suicide

The police commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, condemned vehemently the recurring occurrences of gender-based violence after a man allegedly murdered his girlfriend and then committed himself.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) was reportedly dispatched to a residence in Extension 133 at approximately 07:00. On arrival, they discovered a 41-year-old woman with bruises on her back sleeping in the bedroom and her partner hanging from the roof rafters in the passageway.

According to the spokesperson for the Limpopo police, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the 45-year-old lover is thought to have murdered his partner before hanging himself.

Mojapelo stated that the two remains were discovered by two children aged 9 and 13 the following morning.

Rachel Madubanya and her lover Albert Mokgonyana were recognized as the deceased. At this time, the incident’s cause is unknown, although domestic violence cannot be ruled out, Mojapelo said.

Lieutenant General Hadebe stated that they are extremely grieved by the occurrence and continue to urge members of the community who are facing domestic difficulties to seek assistance quickly rather than resorting to violence.

The police have initiated murder and inquest investigations. The investigation continues.
