Love Island: The Contestants that have left and why they left

Love Island: The Contestants that have left and why they left

Although Love Island is still in its early stages, there has already been a slew of fascinating and shocking events.

Fans of the ITV2 dating show have witnessed a walk-out, the arrival of contestant Gemma Owen’s ex, and plenty of hot kisses.

And with a few more weeks of Series 8 to go, there’s still plenty of drama to come.

Following a surprise dumping on Monday, though, it’s evident that producers want to mix things up.

So keep reading to find out which contestants have already left the villa.

Who has left Love Island 2022?

Only two candidates have left the Love Island villa in 2022 so far.

Liam Llewellyn Left on the Day Five

Liam Llewelyn, the original Love Island 2022 contestant, left the villa after only five days.

In scenes seen on Friday, June 10, the Welsh student, who is pursuing a Masters degree in Strength and Conditioning, gathered the rest of the islanders around the bonfire.

He struggled to find a mate despite being paired with Gemma Owen – who was taken by bombshell Davide Sanclimenti – and having dates with the two new bombshells Ekin-Su Cülcülolu and Afia Tonkmor.

‘I don’t really think I’ve been giving 100 percent Liam; I’m miles off that,’ he told fellow contestants in emotional scenes.

‘Trying to find someone you leave the villa with that you care about – obviously that’s the goal, isn’t it? But when you‘re not feeling that, it makes it a hard sort of time to find that.’

‘This isn’t a spur-of the-moment type of thing, so yeah I’ve made a decision that I am going to leave the villa. It’s been a breeze – it’s been an absolute ball. You’re all unreal.’

He has finally found out that Gemma is the daughter of footballer Michael Owen after leaving the resort.

‘I’m an United fan,’ he told host Laura Whitmore on Love Island: Aftersun. I actually have one of his tops when he came to the club.’

‘It’s a big eye-opener for me how many people had my back,’ Liam said of the support he’s gotten since deciding to leave the villa.

Afia Tonkmor Was Dumped on the Day Eight

Afia Tonkmor is the second contestant to leave Love Island 2022, despite having only been in the resort for a few days.

The 25-year-old beauty arrived in the villa with Ekin-Su but was unable to form a relationship with any of the other contestants.

Despite the fact that the islanders avoided a dumping last week due to Liam’s voluntary departure, producers startled the islanders with a text.

Unfortunately, Afia faced a dumping together with Paige Thorne on Monday, June 13, despite the fact that they were both single.

Jacques O’Neill, Gemma’s ex-boyfriend, was then given the task of deciding which of the two finalists should be saved.

He chose to save Paige after a dramatic few minutes by the fire pit, which meant Afia had to leave the Love Island villa after some hugs from companions.

‘Obviously, I’m going to miss everyone in the Villa, but I’m going to keep trying to find love,’ Afia remarked as she left.

‘I’m sure Mr Right is out there somewhere,’ she said.

‘I’ve learned that I can be a bit shy and it takes me a bit of time to come out of my shell,’ she said, adding that she had no regrets. ‘But I maybe learned to put myself out there a bit more. I did learn a few things.’

‘I feel like I stayed true to myself so I’d do things the same.’

Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
