Lizette Volkwyn, Mzansi’s foremost human lie detector, is going to reveal the truth on kykNET’s popular chat program “Kwêla.” If you believe you can lie and get away with it, think again.
Volkwyn is one of only two certified Paul Ekman Institute (PEI) human lie detectors in the United States and will demonstrate her unique skill set on the September 18 episode.
The author of the self-help book “Finding Me” told IOL Entertainment that starring on a kykNET show was on her bucket list.

“As a master life coach and human lie detector, or more accurately as a ‘truth and creditability consultant,’ I seek to encourage people and teams alike to enhance their communication skills and accept who they truly are.
Volkwyn stated, “Being one of just two PEI truth and creditability and micro expressionists offers me an advantage in assisting my clients in identifying their fundamental difficulties and understanding who they truly are.”
Volkwyn, born in KwaZulu-Natal, attended school in Germiston but was unable to attend college due to family obligations. She instead became an administrative assistant and typist at a bank.
Later, she obtained her Estate Agent Diploma and entered the real estate market, followed by a more than two-decade-long corporate career in office automation and IT.
She felt motivated to use her abilities and experience to help others realize their potential in addition to her IT profession.
This was the impetus for her to create her own consulting firm.
She undertook a journey to get the required credentials, completing a Master Life Coach course in 2012 and a Positive Psychology diploma in 2020. She also underwent the hard training required to become a human lie detector in order to better understand her customers.
“There is a significant need for honest and open communication in our lives.
“However, we can be extremely credulous and believe everything we hear as opposed to what we observe.
This could negatively affect our personal and professional connections.
Volkwyn stated that she can also determine if a person is lying via email, WhatsApp, or a phone call by analyzing the person’s tone.
“In an email, people have a tendency to change their grammar the instant they lie, and occasionally they lengthen their messages or push an issue as far away as possible.”
Among Volkwyn’s consulting services for corporations and SMEs is the evaluation of high-profile candidates for veracity.
