Late Singer Amy’s Biography: a Search for an Actor to Play the Legendary Artist is ongoing

Amy Winehouse will be the focus of a new biography, which has received the singer’s parents’ permission.

Nina Gold, a British casting director, is now looking for an actress to play the legendary artist, with Janis and Mitch Winehouse, who are integrally involved with the production, overseeing the casting process.

They’ve also agreed to let the filmmakers use Amy’s song in the production.

‘Nina’s been searching in theatre schools and drama groups, looking for someone around 20 years old who will be made into a star,’ a source told the Daily Mail.

With hits like Rehab and Back to Black, the Grammy-winning singer and songwriter became a star, and her 2006 album became one of the best-selling albums in UK history. Amy’s drug difficulties were also well-publicized, and she sadly died of alcohol intoxication in 2011 at the age of 27.

Mitch and Janis were believed to be dissatisfied with Asif Kapadia’s 2015 Documentary Amy, and they followed up with their own BBC2 documentary Reclaiming Amy, which commemorated the 10th anniversary of her death.

Amy’s life and legacy were told through the eyes of her family and close friends, including her mother Janis, who had remained silent about her daughter’s death until now.

Nina is known for spotting new and intriguing talent, having cast Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner in Game of Thrones and Daisy Ridley in the Star Wars franchise.

Nina previously discussed the difficulties of casting the perfect actor to represent a real-life public person, having cast Colin Firth to play King George VI in The King’s Speech, for which he won an Oscar.

She explained that one needs to make them look as close as possible to the original person not just a lookalike.

‘Colin Firth looks nothing like the real Bertie and is much taller and was older than he was supposed to be. But he was so brilliant that one doesn’t even think about that, and he certainly made the role his own’ she added.
