Lagos State has made tremendous progress in completing Red Line Rail System

The Lagos State Government has made significant progress toward achieving its goal of having the Red Line Rail System operational by the first quarter of 2023.

The TALGO SERIES 8 Trains purchased for the Red Line have finally arrived in Lagos, according to a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, who also stated that “The 2 Nos. Ten and Eleven Car trains which were bought from Milwaukee are here.”

For efficient transportation to Lagos, he said, the train needed to be split into 21 separate cars. He said that rolling stock engineers from Talgo, the firm that made the trains in the United States, would help recouple the trains.

Omotoso stated: “The Engineers will also take the opportunity, while they are here, to teach our local Engineers to provide our youth the necessary skills. After the recoupling is finished, testing and commissioning will start. Full passenger operations will then start in the first quarter of 2023.

The Commissioner indicated that each train, with a capacity of 1500 passengers, would go from Agbado to Oyingbo on the Red Line Rail in less than 30 minutes.
