Kogi Poly expels 3 for theft & exam misconduct, withdraws 168 for poor grades

The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has reviewed the Central Examination Misconduct Committee’s findings and accepted the exoneration of three students accused of examination misconduct.

This was one of the significant choices made at the 8th Emergency Board meeting held on the main campus’s Hall ‘A’ on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

Balogun Afeez Tolani (2019/ND/BUS/603), John Timothy (2019/HND/BUS/603), all of the Department of Business Administration, and Johnson Lydia Odunayo (2018/ND/PAD/848) of the Department of Public Administration have been cleared of all charges.

Therefore, the Board ordered that the suspended results of the three exonerated students be processed promptly and sent for express approval.

In addition, the Academic Board has accepted the expulsion of Yakubu Gowon Zuleihat (2021/ND/PAD/346), a student in the Department of Public Administration, for stealing.

Monday Alfa (2019/ND/EE/126) and Omodi Ubile (2019/ND/MEC/062), both from the School of Engineering, were also expelled for impersonating other students during examinations.

The Board also accepted the departure of 168 students from the Polytechnic due to low academic performance in the first semester of the 2021-2022 academic year.

This was authorized in the Academic Board meeting held at the same location on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman, Chairman of the Academic Board and Rector of the Polytechnic, has admonished students to be law-abiding as they resume for the second semester of the 2021/2022 Academic Session, promising that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring absolute compliance with the law and order on and around the campuses of the Polytechnic.

While praising Board members for their support, the Rector pledged that the Institution will maintain its academic brilliance.
