Something is being loaded.

On Friday, King Charles III delivered his first speech as the king of the United Kingdom, with a photograph of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a brilliant blue costume and smiling.

The prerecorded address was delivered at Buckingham Palace less than a day after the Queen’s death and the conclusion of her 70-year reign.

During the eulogy, Charles III, 73, said, “Queen Elizabeth’s was a life well lived, a promise with destiny kept, and she is mourned most bitterly in her loss.” This commitment to lifelong service is renewed today.

Charles III vowed, “for as long as God allows me to live, to defend the constitutional ideals at the center of our nation.”

On Thursday, Charles III was in Balmoral in Scotland, where the Queen died after doctors voiced health concerns that morning.

On his first full day as monarch, he landed in London on Friday and shook hands with the people gathering outside Buckingham Palace.

“As you begin your last great journey to join my dearly departed father, I simply want to say thank you,” the king remarked at the conclusion of his speech. “Thank you for your enduring love and loyalty to our family and to our family of nations. May angelic choirs sing thee to sleep.”

King Charles affirmed that Prince William will succeed him as Duke of Cornwall and stated that he is “glad to create him Prince of Wales.”

Kate has been given the same title as William’s mother, Diana: Princess of Wales.

In addition, he stated that he wishes to “convey my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to establish their life abroad.” Prince Harry, the other son of Charles III, departed the royal family with Meghan Markle nearly two years ago.
