Prince Andrew is reportedly insulted by his brother King Charles III’s decision to downgrade his residence from the grand Royal Lodge to the more modest Frogmore Cottage, which was previously occupied by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Experts claim that the disgraced Duke of York, who was stripped of his royal duties in 2019 due to his connection to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, is reluctant to leave the Royal Lodge for the smaller cottage.
Christopher Andersen, author of “The King: The Life of Charles III,” believes that Andrew’s reluctance to move is not surprising, given his late mother’s indulgence of his lavish lifestyle.
However, Andersen notes that “there’s a new sheriff in town” and that King Charles is making good on his promise to streamline the monarchy by cutting expenses.
The eviction of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage was confirmed by their representatives, with the incoming king having begun the process in January. The move has been seen by some as spelling the end of Harry and Meghan’s time in the UK.
Royal experts have suggested that King Charles decided to move his brother to Frogmore as he plans to cut Andrew’s annual salary of $300,000 this April, which would make it difficult to maintain the Royal Lodge’s sprawling, 96-acre, 30-room property.
Andrew’s main source of income is his Naval pension and a substantial inheritance from his late parents. However, Andrew is reportedly resolute in his decision to remain at the Royal Lodge and has not yet accepted the offer to move.
According to Kinsey Schofield, host of the “To Di For Daily” podcast, Prince Andrew feels insulted, punished, and resentful about the move, believing that he followed the palace’s advice in handling his scandals, and now feels betrayed by the firm.
Schofield suggests that this move is an attempt by King Charles to put all scandals behind him before his coronation and is fully supported by Camilla, the queen consort, and the Wales family.
