Police have identified a father-of-three who was discovered at a fishing pond in Sheffield while a man is charged with murder.

Kevin Hodkinson was transported to hospital by paramedics from a pond off Herries Road in Shirecliffe, where he died a short time later.

At 9.21 p.m. on Wednesday, police said they received a disturbing complaint from the location of a 50-year-old in the sea.

Kieran Hayes, 33, was charged with murder and remanded in jail by authorities Friday night.

Kevin’s family paid tribute to him, describing him as a “much loved” son, father, grandpa, brother, partner, uncle, and friend.
Kevin’s family said in a statement, “Kevin was a greatly loved son, dad, granddad, brother, partner, uncle, and friend.” We are heartbroken by his death.’

‘We were speaking about our day and how many fish we had caught,’ said a friend of his, Barry Ball, 85, who saw him that day.

‘He was a pretty kind person, and I’m shocked to hear what’s occurred,’ Mr Ball continued.

‘The pond will be blocked for a short period owing to a police incident last night, so please don’t try to get on,’ the members-only organization that administers Oxspring Dam said on Facebook on Thursday. I’ll let you know when we’re open again.’

Kevin’s death is being investigated by South Yorkshire police, who have charged a man with murder in connection with the death of Kevin.

Hayes, 33, of Sheffield’s Oxspring Bank Road, is due in Sheffield Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.

‘A 50-year-old man who died in Sheffield last week has been named, as his family pays homage to him,’ police said in a statement.

‘At 9.21 p.m. on June 16, emergency services were dispatched to reports of a man in distress at a fishing pond off Herries Road in Sheffield’s Shirecliffe neighborhood.

‘The guy, now identified as Sheffield father of three Kevin Hodkinson, was carried to hospital by ambulance but sadly died a short time afterwards.
