Belgium star Kevin De Bruyne scored four goals – including a hat-trick in the space of 17 minutes – to help Manchester City beat Wolves 5-1 on Wednesday night.
In doing so, Manchester City took another step towards retaining their Premier League title with just two matches in the season remaining.
De Bruyne, who was described as “beyond perfect” by coach Pep Guardiola, matched an incredible ‘feat’ set by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in 2018.
According to the OptaJabu Twitter page, De Bruyne became the first Premier League player – whose mother was born in Africa – to score four goals in a match since Salah against Watford in March 2018.
Kevin De Bruyne chose to play for Belgium
Salah’s mother was born in Egypt while De Bruyne’s mother was born in Burundi.
De Bruyne was eligible to represent Burundi, but unfortunately for the land-locked country in the Great Rift Valley, he elected to play for Belgium.
