Wednesday at FNB Stadium in Cape Town, Kaizer Chiefs will attempt to rebound from their loss to Chippa United when they face TS Galaxy.
Given their three-match winning streak prior to Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Chippa at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Chiefs’ progress was temporarily halted by the loss.
Amakhosi gained momentum with straight Premiership victories against SuperSport United, Swallows FC, and Stellenbosch FC prior to their loss to Chippa United.
The Chiefs are currently in fourth place in the Premiership rankings with 17 points after 11 games. Reflecting on Chiefs’ loss to Chippa, Chiefs’ head coach Arthur Zwane lamented the loss of his team’s momentum, given that they had dominated the tempo of the game.
“I am more than merely dissatisfied. Yes, I believe this may have been an excellent gift for the chairwoman, especially because it was played at home, added Zwane.
“We were on a winning streak in terms of not losing at home. This is yet another source of my disappointment.
“We could have easily given the chairman a thoughtful gift. I despise losing, especially in games like these where we had control at one time.”
While Zwane laments Chiefs’ recent loss to Chippa, TS Galaxy have failed to win any of their last seven league matches.
TS Galaxy enters the match on the heels of a 0-0 stalemate against Swallows at Mbombela Stadium and is currently ranked eleventh on the standings.
TS Galaxy’s record in their last five matches is also not encouraging, as they have suffered three losses and two draws.
Bernard Parker, a former standout with the Chiefs, stated prior to the game that he is excited to face his former team.
“I expect to be greeted with open arms and a warm welcome,” Parker added.
“I aim to obtain that as a result of my actions there. In the past eleven years, I’ve accomplished a great deal, and I am anticipating a sense of welcome. The emotion has not yet set in.
“Once I step foot in the FNB Stadium, I’m certain things will become clear. I am experiencing this emotion for the first time, and I do not know how to describe it.
“I don’t know how I’ll feel on the day, but I’m looking forward to it, and I hope I’ll have a positive disposition.”
