Just Stop Oil has announced that its protests on the M25 will cease as of today in order to give the government time to “examine their obligations” about climate change.
The group stated on social media that inactivity about climate change is “murder, pure and simple” and that they “have the right to cause disruption in order to prevent bigger harm.”
It follows four days of turmoil on one of the busiest highways in the United Kingdom, caused by protestors climbing onto overpass gantries and causing police to stop huge parts of the road while they were removed.
Just Stop Oil issued the following statement via Twitter: “As of today, Just Stop Oil will cease its civil opposition campaign on the M25.”

The end of the protests is another another embarrassment for the police, who failed to prevent the eco-mob from rising above the highway and were even involved in a collision between two lorries and a police motorcycle earlier this week as one officer attempted to cross the road.
Police have also been compelled to apologize following the detention of numerous prominent journalists, including Charlotte Lynch of LBC, despite her presenting her press card to officials.
Just Stop Oil asserts that they and their supporters are now responsible for maintaining order in the United Kingdom.

Despite Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s call for a crackdown, they were able to evade police for a fourth consecutive day on Thursday, resulting in closures across the network and arrests in Surrey, London, Essex, and Kent.
Thursday’s protesters included Phoebe Plummer, 21, who is already on bail for hurling a can of soup at a Vincent van Gogh painting in central London last month.
But not everything went according to plan, as one pink-haired eco-warrior was stopped before reaching the M25.
Three officers grabbed onto her arms and legs as they brought her to a vehicle in Chevening, Kent, as a videographer from the eco-mob recorded every second of her ‘loud statement to camera.’
Just Stop Oil’s statement continued, ‘We invite the Prime Minister to consider his remarks at COP27, where he discussed the catastrophic threat posed by global warming, the 33 million people affected by floods in Pakistan, and the moral and economic responsibility to honor our commitments.
