On the R544, just outside Witbank in Mpumalanga, early on Saturday morning, two mini-bus taxis collided head-on, killing three adult males.

On their way to work, a number more passengers were hurt in the event.

On Saturday, June 25, at 3:20 a.m., ER24 paramedics discovered the Provincial EMS already on the site.

Another private emergency medical service had already taken other people with unidentified injuries to the hospital for further treatment.

ER24 assisted the Provincial EMS to extract an adult male patient from the one taxi who had suffered critical injuries. The patient was transported by the Provincial EMS to hospital for emergency treatment.

Three adult men including the driver and two passengers sitting behind the driver from the same taxi were found to have suffered fatal injuries and showed no signs of life. The three men, all believed to be above the age of 30, were declared dead on arrival by ER24.

Both the Fire and Traffic Departments were on the scene as well as the SAPS for further investigations.
