John Leguizamo poses as a real New Yorker who cooks for his visitors

John Leguizamo is similar to many New Yorkers who, while throwing dinner parties, pretend to be crackerjacks with a carving knife.

“New Yorkers do it,” the “Menu” actress told Page Six on Monday at the food-centered thriller’s premiere. “Order it a little bit early, take it out of the containers, put it in your pots, and say, ‘Oh, I’ve been laboring all day for you!’”

However, Leguizamo, who grew up in Queens, acknowledged that this strategy might occasionally backfire.

“The only difficulty is when people ask, ‘What’s in it?’ and you have to say, ‘Oh, it’s a secret recipe,’” he continued with a chuckle, admitting that he has “a lot” of times pretended to prepare gourmet dinners.

The 62-year-old “Carlito’s Way” actor admitted that he enjoys dining out but has a “issue” while dining at restaurants.

“You do not receive free meals. “You receive complimentary items, but you must tip twice as much,” he stated. “I end up leaving a 40 percent tip, so I pay for it regardless.”

Leguizamo emphasized that he always leaves generous tips because “you never want to be the guy who everyone says, ‘That cheap man John Leguizamo never tips’”

In “The Menu,” Leguizamo portrays a diner who goes to a distant island to dine at a fancy restaurant owned by a renowned chef who has some macabre surprises in store for his affluent customers. Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy, Judith Light, and Nicholas Hoult all feature in the dark comedy.

“I’ve been on some poisonous film sets, so this was one of the safest settings I’ve ever been on. This was so caring and kind,” he exclaimed.

However, there was a problem: the voice actor for “Encanto” never got to taste the “wonderful” meal that was offered.

“It was gorgeous, but inedible since it was varnished,” he disclosed. “The scallops, [chef Dominique Crenn] warned, ‘Don’t eat it since it’s been there for 12 hours,’ but when she handed out the most delicious chicken, I ate it anyhow. They informed me, “You’re consuming all of our props!”
