John Leguizamo criticizes “Super Mario Bros.”

John Leguizamo, a Colombian actor living in the US who played Aurelio in “John Wick,” is upset with the creators of the animated movie “Super Mario Bros.”

The actor criticized the new movie’s all-white ensemble and the glaring absence of “Latinx protagonists,” according to Mirror.co.uk.

Leguizamo (62), who played the role of Luigi in the 1993 live-action “Super Mario Bros” film, reportedly wasn’t pleased with Chris Pratt’s selection for the role of famous Italian plumber Mario.

Leguizamo voiced his reservations about the movie after the debut of the first trailer. He also admired the original, in which he also appeared, for its colorblind casting choices.

He said on Twitter as follows: “I’m so happy a new Super Mario Bros. movie is coming! It is undoubtedly iconic (enough). Sadly, they became completely white. There are no Latinx leads! In the original, there was groundbreaking colorblind casting!”

Latinx is a word used to describe members of the Latino community that is inclusive of all gender experiences.

The “Mirror” continues, “Plus I’m the only one who knows how to make this movie work script wise!” He went on to explain that he was the only one who could make the movie work “script wise.”

Chris Pratt will portray the famous character of Mario in the 2023 film, while Charlie Day will play his sibling Luigi.
