Jasprit Bumrah out of T20 World Cup

New Delhi – India’s cricket board announced on Monday that Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia later this month due to a back issue.

“Jasprit Bumrah, a fast bowler for Team India, has been ruled out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup roster by the BCCI Medical team. The decision was made after a thorough evaluation and interaction with the specialists “the Indian Board of Control for Cricket stated.

The BCCI will shortly name Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement in the roster for the flagship competition, according to a BCCI release.

Bumrah, age 28, was forced to withdraw from the upcoming Twenty20 series against South Africa after complaining of back problems prior to the first match.

It is a second injury blow for India, who will open their World Cup campaign on October 23 against archrivals Pakistan in Melbourne.

Ravindra Jadeja was unable to make the squad owing to a knee ailment that forced him to withdraw midway through the Asia Cup.

The Indian bowling attack has lacked vigor in the last overs of T20 matches, and the squad has not won a multi-nation tournament since the 2013 Champions Trophy.

They failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates last year as a result of a lackluster performance that featured a 10-wicket loss to Pakistan.

In the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup last month, they were defeated by Pakistan and the eventual champions Sri Lanka.

Since making his international debut in January 2016, Bumrah has played 30 Tests, 72 ODIs, and 60 T20Is for India. He is ranked fourth in the world among Test bowlers, according to the international rankings.

In white ball cricket, he is recognized as a yorker specialist for his ability to bowl toe-crushing deliveries in the final overs, but he has not been performing well in recent contests.
