Mohammed Siraj replaces Jasprit Bumrah in India’s T20I series with South Africa

New Delhi – India replaced Jasprit Bumrah with Mohammed Siraj for the remaining Twenty20 matches against South Africa on Friday. Bumrah’s participation in the World Cup is in serious question due to a back ailment.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India stated that Bumrah missed Wednesday’s opening victory over the Proteas and is being monitored by a medical staff. India’s T20 World Cup campaign begins in three weeks.

According to Indian media, the 28-year-old has a stress fracture of the back, making his retirement from the competition in Australia inevitable.

Bumrah recently participated in two Twenty20 internationals against Australia, but he was not at his best because he had previously been sidelined.

Since making his international debut in January 2016, he has played 30 Tests, 72 ODIs, and 60 T20Is for India.

The final two matches between India and South Africa are scheduled for Sunday and Tuesday, both at home.
