IT repairman sentenced for 18 months for filming female guests

A voyeur who used his job as an IT repairman to obtain hundreds of personal photographs of women was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

When handed laptops and mobile phones to repair, Ian Lloyd, 35, of Gobowen, Shropshire, discovered methods to download personal images. He also installed a covert camera inside his previous Flintshire property to see unsuspecting ladies changing in his swimming pool. The offenses were discovered when a victim reported his suspicious behavior, according to the Wrexham Leader.

Mold Crown Court heard that 13 victims of his ‘depraved’ behavior were identified, however there were many more on the 12-year-long video.

Lloyd’s actions were “calculated, premeditated, purposeful, and selfish,” according to Judge Niclas Parry.

He said that the crime was committed “without respect for the privacy and dignity of your victims.”

Prosecuting attorney Karl Scholz gave a statement from one of the victims, who was seen changing to use the swimming pool at Lloyd’s house.Ian Lloyd, 35, of Gobowen, Shropshire, found ways to download intimate pictures when given computers and mobile phones to fixMold Crown Court heard that 13 victims of his 'depraved' conduct were identified, although there were many more in the footage spanning twelve years

She said that after learning what had transpired and experiencing ‘overwhelming’ stress, her self-esteem ‘reached rock bottom.’

Another lady made a statement in court, saying she was’sickened.’

‘I can only call that a violation,’ she said.

A third victim described Lloyd’s behavior as “making her skin crawl,” while another described herself as “paranoid, apprehensive of new people, and no longer outgoing.”

Lloyd pleaded guilty to five charges of voyeurism and eight counts of computer abuse. According to the prosecution, he informed police that seeing women nude piqued his interest. Lloyd has already been convicted of downloading child sexual pictures.

Mr Scholz said that Lloyd’s devastated wife had divorced him, despite the fact that she was not a victim of the crimes.

‘Because there are so many victims, because of the breach of trust, because of the huge effect, the issue is just too severe to be suspended,’ Judge Parry stated, adding that the sentence must be served immediately.

For 10 years, he must register as a sex offender, and a sexual harm prevention order was issued for the same time period.

Defending attorney Henry Hills said that Lloyd had made measures to address his offenses and had participated in counseling.
