IT professional dies in motorcycle crash with wife and children in campervan

An inquest heard that a father was returning from vacation when he was killed in a collision while his wife and children were riding behind him on a camper van.

On the 100-mile drive home, IT consultant Michael Peel, 46, rode in front of his wife Claire, 48, and their 6-year-old daughter Imogen on their beloved Triumph motorcycle.

When tragedy occurred, the family was returning home to Llanrwst, North Wales, after a vacation in West Wales.

According to information provided to the Caernarfon inquiry, the group of travellers met up for a break in their camper van.

The family’s last talk together was one they had about the pleasant weather at the time.

On the way home, the “well loved” Mr. Peel collided with another motorcycle.

Ben Perry, a fellow rider, said that Mr. Peel hit him from behind as he tried to make a right turn, causing both motorcycles to tumble to the ground.

Mr. Peel reportedly questioned “why did you do that?” during the inquest. Ben then said, “I was suggesting,” to him.

The father-of-one, who was originally from Northern Ireland, had a rapid decline in health and passed away on the spot in Corris, North Wales.

Although Mr. Perry claimed to have noticed Michael before making the turn on the A487 in October of last year, the court was informed that this may not have been the case.

Michael died as a result of intra-abdominal bleeding brought on by a liver injury despite having several injuries.

Mr. Peel would have been in a blind zone up to the very last second before the crash, according to assistant coroner Sarah Riley.

She came to the conclusion that a car accident was what killed the person.

Michael was cherished by his wife, Claire, and their daughter, Imogen, according to a memorial written at the time of his passing.

Michael, who was originally from Northern Ireland, resided with his family in Llanrwst and was survived by his brother David.

He was a product manager for IT and enjoyed reading, watching movies, riding his motorcycle, and DIY recently.
