Fatal motorcycle with a passenger in a sidecar crash at Mount Stanley

Police are investigating a tragic motorcycle accident that occurred this morning near Mount Stanley (January 21).

Initial reports indicate that a motorcycle carrying a passenger in a sidecar was travelling north on Western Branch Road at 11:30 a.m. when it left the highway and crashed into a ditch.

The rider, a 68-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the site, while the passenger, a 56-year-old lady, was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are interested in speaking with anybody who was driving in the area before to the incident.
