In India, an LED traffic sign instructs drivers to “consume weed daily.”

This highway sign carried a direct message for motorists.

According to accounts, an LED banner flashing along a roadside in India appeared to encourage drivers to puff recreational narcotics with the slogan “smoke cannabis every day.”

The unsettling message was observed flashing in Mumbai instead of regular traffic warnings near a construction zone, according to United Press International, which cited a Tuesday tweet containing a video of unknown date.

According to India Today, officials attributed the directive to a technical glitch, as reported by the newspaper.

The joint commissioner for traffic of the Mumbai police, Pravin Padwal, told India Today on Tuesday that the business responsible for the sign informed to him that “a technological fault caused the display to display the incorrect message last night.”

Padwal told India Today that an L&T employee called IT to remedy the issue, and the sign was turned off until it was resolved.
