The legs of the brother of alleged drug lord Mostafa Baluch have been shot.
After being shot, Imran Baluch, 26, admitted himself to the hospital just before noon on Thursday.
The police have yet to interview him about where or who may have shot him. Currently, detectives are investigating.
A 26-year-old man presented himself to Westmead hospital shortly after 11:35 a.m. with gunshot wounds, according to a police statement.
He was admitted to the hospital for treatment, where his condition is stable.
Last year, his brother Mostafa prompted one of Australia’s largest manhunts.
In November, he was apprehended hiding on the back of a luxury automobile in a truck at the Queensland-New South Wales border after weeks on the run.
Last year’s arrest was the climax of a weeks-long search for him after he allegedly removed an ankle monitor and fled.
The police believe that Baluch was a member of a criminal organization that conspired to import and distribute three tonnes of cocaine, estimated to be worth $900 million.
In October 2020 and April 2021, with the assistance of US officials, 1,770 kilograms of cocaine were confiscated from vessels off the coast of Colombia and Ecuador, respectively.
So far, five men have been charged for their suspected connection with the gang.
His sibling is not charged with or participated in the alleged importation.
