In a recent incident in the Ikeja area of Lagos State, two individuals posing as police officers were apprehended during an unauthorized patrol.
These impostors, falsely identifying themselves as law enforcement agents, have been taken into custody by the authorities.
The duo’s pretense involved one person presenting themselves as a police inspector, while the other claimed to be a junior colleague.
Their unlawful activities primarily revolved around exploiting innocent Nigerians by utilizing police uniforms to instill a sense of authority and then extorting money from them.
However, their deception was short-lived, as vigilant citizens alerted the proper authorities to their illicit activities.
During the course of their arrest, law enforcement personnel managed to seize incriminating evidence from the fake officers.
Among the items recovered were a pocket knife and a locally modified AK-47 gun.
These findings further emphasize the criminal intent and potential danger associated with the impersonation and extortion scheme these individuals were perpetrating.
Governor Obaseki Employs ESSVN for Enhanced Security
Meanwhile, in a move to enhance security and intelligence efforts in Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has taken a proactive step by employing 1,500 members of the State Security, Vigilante, and Hunter Network (ESSVN).
These individuals have recently completed a comprehensive 10-day intelligence gathering training at the Ogida Police Training School, situated in Egor LGA.
The training aimed to equip the vigilantes and hunters with the skills necessary to effectively contribute to the state’s security landscape.
Addressing the passing-out parade, Governor Obaseki highlighted the significance of this initiative.
