Identified: Bikie “hang-out” stabbed in gym parking lot

The identity of the 23-year-old bikie “hang-around” who was fatally stabbed after being attacked in a gym parking lot has been disclosed.

After Levi Johnson was fatally stabbed in broad daylight outside a Goodlife gym in Carindale, in Brisbane’s south-east, at about 1pm on Monday, four accused gang members are now on the run, and a fifth has been detained. The killing was described as “brazen” and happened outside the gym.

Mr. Johnston, who is well-liked by the Comancheros but is not a patched member, was struck by a white Nissan Patrol as he was seated in a Mercedes.

Police claim that five males broke his windows with a crowbar after bursting out of two vehicles, a black Audi A3 hatchback and a Nissan, respectively.

The five guys pursued the driver when he successfully exited the vehicle via the passenger door.

One of the chasers stabbed him many times when they came up to him.

Mr. Johnston was previously one of two men who were stabbed during a brawl with members of an unlawful bikie group on the Gold Coast a year ago. Whether the two stabbings are related is unknown.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham of the Queensland Police said that after seeing some CCTV video of the event, “it is horrible.”

He said that the stabbing was done in “less than five seconds,” calling it “a frightening act, a blatant act, and cowardly.”

The four males who were in the Nissan drove off quickly, but the driver of the Audi was unable to start his vehicle, so he escaped on foot.

According to Superintendent Massingham, the assailants were not wearing disguises based on the “graphic” CCTV images he had viewed.

Two backpacks were found during a search of the neighbourhood for the individual who escaped on foot, and they are now being forensically analysed.

Both of the bags, according to the police, came from the Audi.

According to Superintendent Massingham, it’s probable that the individuals in the Nissan turned around to take the man who was running away on foot.

Off-duty medical staff attempted to assist the victim at the site, but they were unable to rescue him, Superintendent Massingham told reporters.

Police are apparently looking into whether the stabbing is related to motorcycle gang operations, despite the fact that the motive for the death is unclear.

Up to 50 individuals were reportedly there, and the gym was evacuated, according to a witness.

Another reported seeing cops chasing a guy away from the gym up a hill.

They said that “police were rerouting traffic.”

Then, paramedics were treating to a person on the ground who didn’t seem to be in good health across the street from the gym.

There was a sizable audience there, and everyone had their phones out to record the event.

“Many police officers, paramedics, and a helicopter are on the site.”

The Pine Mountain and Creek Road junction in Carindale was blocked by police who were on the scene.

A post-mortem examination will be performed on the victim early on Tuesday, according to Superintendent Massingham.

According to him, the lawsuit has received substantial funding, and he anticipates a “quick outcome.”

Police have urged individuals to come forward as witnesses and to provide them any dashcam video they may have.
