Sunfox, a construction company based on Queensland’s Gold Coast, has gone into administration owing $1.1 million to its creditors, including $324,297 in tax.
The company had promised to help families build their dream homes with confidence, but it has now disappointed many by appointing administrators after complaints of unpaid invoices and cancelled contracts. Last month, the Queensland Building and Construction Commission restricted the company’s license due to its financial situation.
The company has been flooded with negative reviews from angry customers online. One customer warned others to avoid Sunfox, claiming that the company owed hundreds of thousands of dollars to families and businesses.
They also mentioned that they were struggling to get a response via email or call. Edwin Narayan and Domenic Calabretta, the administrators of the company, have confirmed that Sunfox owes more than $1.1 million to its creditors.
According to QBCC records, the company completed $6.3 million worth of projects across 19 residential properties in 2020/21. However, last financial year, they only completed three projects worth $1.2 million.
One customer claimed that they had to cancel their contract with Sunfox after a year, but the company refused to pay back their $48,000 deposit. Another customer said that they were owed more than $10,000 but had been unable to get hold of anyone from the company. The collapse of Sunfox has dashed the hopes of many families who had hoped to build their dream homes with the company.
