A court heard that an alleged sexual offender raped a lady in his £1 million central London apartment after meeting her on the dating website Bumble.
It was said that Varun Venaik, 31, kissed and intimately touched the victim without her consent before forcing himself on her.
Venaik, an Australian, disputes that he raped the woman in his basement home on Upper Montagu Street, Marylebone, where some houses pay more than £1 million.
On the first day of his trial, he appeared at Southwark Crown Court wearing a grey suit and a pale pink shirt.
The prosecutor, Arizuna Asante, stated that the couple met at a bar in Marylebone on the afternoon of July 31, 2017 after meeting on Bumble.
Mr. Asante stated, “They conversed nicely for several hours.” Mr. Vaneik then recommends that they return to his residence.
Today, 31-year-old Varun Venaik appeared at Southwark Crown Court (pictured) charged with raping a lady in his central London apartment.
During their conversation, the woman consumed a “little bit” of wine.
“They began kissing,” continued Mr. Asante. “It is essential to note that the kiss was voluntary.
He positioned himself on top of her. She told Mr. Vaneik she does not engage in sexual activity on the first date.
He reached for her undergarments. She retracted his hand. She repeated that she does not engage in sexual activity on a first date.
The jury heard Vaneik intimately touch the woman with her consent.
She reiterated that she does not engage in sexual activity on a first date. He indicated that was acceptable.’
In the evening, Vaneik stated that he had to see a friend, and she departed from his flat.
He informed his date that he was no longer seeing his friend, and she agreed to return to his apartment for additional drinks.

The prosecutor stated, “They purchased gin at the nearby grocery and then returned to his residence.”

They began conversing and kissing.
He attempted to remove his shorts. She raised them back up again. She stated that she did not desire sexual activity on the first date.
In answer, he replied it was alright, but he would continue to try.
Apparently, he then climbed on top of the woman and raped her.
Mr. Asante stated, “For her, the weight was purposeful and uncomfortable.”
Mr. Vaneik shoved her head down with some force at this point. He positioned himself on top of her and inserted his penis into her vagina.
Vaneik, of Upper Montagu Street, denies rape.
