Haslett is accused with aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated assault. In addition, he has a criminal history dating back to 2002.

Excelsior Springs Police Chief Gregory Dull told KMBC he had Haslett's home surrounded just moments later and prevented Haslett from going back into the house to destroy evidence

After hearing the victim’s screams from outside, an elderly woman opened the door quickly for her.

Ciara Tharp, a relative of the elderly woman, told KSHB News, “She heard a woman screaming and came knocking on the door, so she opened the door and the woman said, “You must assist me, I’ve been raped and I’ve been held captive.”

Tharp stated, “My grandmother could sense she was weakened.” She was not wearing a great deal of clothing. She stated that she was wearing a metal dog collar and that ligature marks were visible on her wrists.

In addition to the collar, the victim looked to have duct tape around her neck that may have been around her lips previously.
