Mr. Mount works as a writer and journalist. Contributor to the Financial Times, Daily Telegraph, Spectator, Daily Mail, and New York Times as well as editor of the Oldie magazine.

He was a former Middle Temple media and libel lawyer and financial analyst.
The Cabinet Office’s Lord True, a Minister of State, expressed his appreciation for the new Member’s appointment.

I want to congratulate Harry Mount on being chosen to serve on the House of Lords Appointments Commission as an Independent Member.

I wish Harry Mount the best in his new position since he has a lot of expertise to give the House of Lords Appointments Commission.

Notes: HOLAC’s two primary responsibilities are to suggest candidates for appointment as non-party political life peers and to thoroughly examine nominations for life peers, including those made by the UK political parties, to guarantee the highest standards of propriety.

The position was extensively advertised beginning on June 8 and ended on July 12—this included postings on the Public Appointments website.
