Liz Garbus, the director of the current Netflix series about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle titled “Harry & Meghan,” criticized Buckingham Palace officials for their attempt to “discredit” the series.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex discussed their life before, during, and after residing in the palace in a six-part documentary series. It also offered an inside look at the events surrounding the couple’s 2020 departure from the British royal family.
Garbus, who directed the entire series, claims that each episode provides insight into the “alleged palace mind games” that Harry and Meghan had to endure at the hands of other royals.
“For instance, Buckingham Palace claimed that we did not request comment when we did,” Garbus explained to Vanity Fair. “They did so to dishonor us… “By discrediting us, they can discredit the program’s content.”

At the opening of the documentary series, viewers saw a message that read, “Members of the Royal Family declined to comment on the series’ content.”
A source informed Page Six that neither Buckingham Palace, which represents King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla, nor Kensington Palace, which represents Prince William and Kate Middleton, nor other family members were contacted for comment.
The source said that there would be “no comment” on “any aspect” of the documentary series, adding, “I am aware that the filmmakers requested comment.”
The exiled royals delivered a number of bombshells in the documentary series, which premiered only one month prior to the publishing of Harry’s tell-all novel, “Spare.”
The “explosive” six-part series included the pair discussing Meghan’s alleged bigotry and her painful decision to leave the royal family.
The couple also details the alleged mistreatment they received from the royal family, including their rocky relationships with Prince William and King Charles III, Meghan’s mental health struggles, and her tragic miscarriage.
In addition to their reportedly $100 million Netflix deal, Harry and Meghan signed a $25 million contract with Spotify to develop material such as Meghan’s “Archetypes” podcast, provoking criticism from musicians who receive paltry pennies per stream from the audio site.
