Prince Harry and Meghan Markle issued a statement regarding their controversial depiction in the South Park cartoon.
They were depicted as the “Prince and Princess of Canada” who were on a “global privacy tour” after being insulted on the popular show.
The mockery prompted rumours that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were considering legal action, but their spokeswoman allegedly dismissed those claims as “baseless and tedious”
Since its start in 1998, the long-running show has made fun of a lengthy list of prominent people, including the married couple.
According to reports, Meghan was “upset” over the episode in which the couple traveled on their “global privacy tour” to promote Harry’s new novel ‘Waaagh’.
One royal commentator stated that they were contemplating legal action, with their team apparently monitoring the episode.
Neil Sean, an authority on the monarchy, asserted: “According to sources close to the ex-royals, this, like so many other matters involving Meghan and Harry, may have legal implications.
“Their legal team is examining the situation to determine what went wrong and what could be transformed into something nasty.”
In the animation, two characters representing Harry and Meghan fled an interview after being questioned by a television host “Is it true, sir, that your dubious wife has her own television program, hangs out with celebs, and writes for fashion magazines?
“Yes, I suppose some people could say that your Instagram-obsessed wife doesn’t care about her privacy.”
Mr. Sean’s accusations, however, have subsequently been refuted by the Sussexes, who deemed the commentator’s claims to be “without merit.”
Meghan is defined as a “sorority girl, actor, influencer, and victim” on the show.
