HAJJ 2022: First batch of over 430 Lagos State pilgrims returns home

More than 430 pilgrims from Lagos State who travelled to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the Year 2022 holy pilgrimage have safely returned home.

On Sunday, July 17, 2022, at precisely 9.04 p.m., the pilgrims arrived at Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, and they thanked Almighty Allah for His Mercy throughout the journey.

The pilgrims noted that the journey was easy and free of any significant health issues or deaths, and they expressed their gratitude to the State Government and its personnel for their tireless efforts in ensuring that the hajj rites were done without stress.

The pilgrims were welcomed at the airport by representatives of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, led by Mrs. Ganiyat Ojomu, Head of Administration and Human Resource.

According to the flight itinerary provided by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), the 1,655 pilgrims who were airlifted for the pilgrimage in six batches are due to arrive in Lagos on July 31, after beginning their return journey with the first batch on Sunday, July 17.

The second batch of returning pilgrims is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.
