After a woman was stabbed in a Tesco grocery store, a 34-year-old guy was detained.

At 1:30 pm on Saturday, police were called to the Tesco Extra in Rutherglen, Glasgow, on Dalmarnock Road in response to reports of an attack.

Following the knife attack, the 25-year-old was transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where it is said that his status is stable.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: ‘Officers were called to a serious assault at a premises on Dalmarnock Road, Rutherglen, at around 1.30pm on Saturday July 9.

‘A 25-year-old woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

‘A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection.’

The business was evacuated as a result of the incident, witnesses told the BBC.

Following the knife attack, the 25-year-old was brought to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he is reportedly in a stable condition.

According to reports, Tesco employees taped off the entrances after activating the fire alarm in order to get consumers out of the store as quickly as possible.

An ambulance and several police vehicles are seen parked by the storefront in video that was posted to social media.

Videos depict how consumers leave the location following the incident while driving their autos.
