Georgina Rodriguez blasts Portugal coach after World Cup loss

Saturday, the longtime boyfriend of Cristiano Ronaldo criticized Portugal’s coach for starting the soccer star on the bench again in the country’s shocking loss to Morocco at the 2022 World Cup.

Georgina Rodriguez, who has been linked to the 37-year-old Ronaldo since 2016, took to Instagram Stories to criticize Fernando Santos following Portugal’s 1-0 loss to Morocco on Saturday at Al Thumama Stadium in Qatar.

On December 10, 2022, Georgina Rodriguez, Cristiano Ronaldo’s longterm partner, called out Portugal’s manager on Instagram.

“Today, your friend and coach made a poor decision. According to the Daily Mail, Rodriguez, 28, captioned a photo of Ronaldo with the phrase, “That friend for whom you have so many words of appreciation and respect.”

“The same individual who, by bringing you into the game, witnessed how everything altered, but it was too late. You cannot undervalue the world’s best player, his most potent weapon,” the statement added.

“Nor can you defend someone who does not merit it. Life teaches us lessons. Today, we have not lost, but rather gained knowledge,” the statement concluded.

Although Ronaldo returned to the field in the second half of Saturday’s match against Morocco, the striker did not have a significant influence. As the match concluded, cameras followed a tearful Ronaldo into the tunnel as the former Manchester United star fought back tears.

Ronaldo will be 41 years old in 2026, suggesting that the 2022 World Cup could be his last.

Ronaldo has been linked to the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr following his acrimonious departure from Manchester United in November.

Rodriguez, on the other hand, has been openly critical of Santos, blasting him on social media earlier this week for benching Ronaldo in Tuesday’s 6-1 Round of 16 victory over Switzerland, in which Ronaldo’s replacement, Goncalo Ramos, scored a hat trick.
